On a humid evening in Accra…

On a humid evening in Accra, Ghana, Bupa International hosted a cocktail reception and presentation evening for our distribution partners from across the region. The evening was attended by representatives from local health insurers Med-X, insurance brokers including All Risks, KEK, and even our intermediaries Bahsoon Auto who had kindly flown in from their offices in Sierra Leone.

Ghana is a country full of natural resources such as gold, timber and cocoa and has one of the highest GDPs per capita in Africa. Ghana will also begin oil production in commercial quantities later in 2010 which has led to many international companies investing in new operations here.  Because of this and the large number of Ghanaian people who work and live outside of the country but still hold strong links to their homeland, our intermediaries see huge opportunity to grow their Bupa International customer-base.

The evening was hosted by our Sales Manager for Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa, Steve Martin who gave an overview presentation on the advantages of international health cover, highlighting Bupa International’s products and service as well as our differentiating focus on healthcare leadership. The presentations were followed by a Q and A session and then an opportunity to network with other intermediaries as well as Steve and I over some local beverages. Everyone I met with was very positive about our products and the opportunities that they feel will be available during the course of the year and I’d like to thank everyone who attended.

Steve and I, and the rest of the ESSA sales team are in place this year to provide focussed support to our intermediaries across Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa. This is a vast region but we aim to embrace the cultural differences across these two continents by providing individual and tailored support to our distribution partners.
