Bupa International Expat Survey 2010 | Saturday,29 May 2010
The Bupa International Expat Survey was sent out to 10,000 of our expatriate customers at the beginning of March. This is an important piece of information for us as it brings us closer to the concerns, needs and thoughts of our members.
We survey expats across a vast amount of nationalities and from those surveyed; the majority of respondents were aged between 35 and 54.
We found some very insightful information from the expat survey and would like to share some of our high level findings with you.
The most popular country for expatriates to live in is the United Arab Emirates, followed by the Netherlands, the UK and Singapore.
When asked about what health issues concern them, the most worrying health issue for expatriates is Swine Flu followed by Dengue Fever and Malaria.
Those who said they would prefer to be treated in a country other than that of their residence or origin chose Singapore followed by the USA, South Africa and the UK.
Over half of the expats believe their quality of life is better where they now live than in their country of origin.
When asked about social networking sites, Facebook came out as the most popular social networking site by far. This is great news for us as we have just launched our Facebook page which can be seen here. On our Facebook page you can find all up to date health alerts - its really worth a look!
When asked where they would like to live if they could live anywhere in the world, Australia was rated as the most popular by our expats followed by the USA and UK.
It’s always important to know what influence and effects our member’s decisions, which is the reason our expat survey is very important to us.
We will be using the results of this survey to develop stories of interest about expats around the world - you may find them useful for use in your customer newsletters so keep your eye out for future issues of Global View where we will publish these stories.
